~~~~~Revisions & Clarifications~~~~~
July 6, 2018
As I expected—hoped, actually—information continues to emerge as the Baker Island book circulates. I would like to clarify, correct, and add to the text with this supplementary page. More is sure to come, which I will make available at: www.KeepersofBaker.org.
Page 37: The building referred to as the 1905 fuel house has been misidentified for 30 years. It is instead, most likely, a garage built by the Coast Guard in 1942. The fuel house was probably another name (and purpose) for the paint locker.
Page 83: Edna Campbell was the great granddaughter of William & Hannah Gilley, as stated; but her parents were Katherine Bulger Gilley & Benjamin Stanwood Campbell and her grandparents were Emily Stanley & Samuel Gilley (page 14).
Page 103: Visiting the Dance Floor with Anne Thorp are her Captain, Maynard Closson, and two of Gussie Moore Chalmers’ grandchildren: Dan & Linda.
I apologize for any inaccuracies,
as I have endeavored to confirm all
of my research. I encourage readers
to continue to give me feedback,
positive and otherwise!
Many thanks,
Cornelia
